I received an email from a friend on Friday. It was unexpected and out of the blue and read: “Here’s what you have to save for – A Yoga Week in Zanzibar.“
In her mail she relays the story of a friend who went for a yoga week in Zanzibar and added the words from the friend as follows:
“My week of yoga in Zanzibar helped me to find myself again. I learned to let go. I envisioned myself walking on the beach with a white dress – moving forward and looking ahead.”

I’ve always had a special place in my heart for Zanzibar – and I have never been! I’ve recently become acquainted with the idea of a yoga retreat in Zanzibar. And then I discovered Stand Up Paddle Board or SUP Yoga!
I’m no-where near ready for anything like that, but doesn’t it look amazing!
Random suggestions like this one, doesn’t come along every day. So when they do, I believe it is something I should look into and consider.
I have many goals:
- changing my career to incorporate what I am studying
- a holiday in Cape Town and not a drive down. We will travel by plane.
- balance between home and work, with flexibility and quality time when the boys need me.
- buying a house – nothing fancy. Something that is ours.
- backpacking in Europe with the boys when they are older
I have a strategy, but I can’t say I am actively working towards or saving for any of the above goals. It is time to start trusting for more and to start saving towards a goal.
A yoga week in Zanzibar won’t mean much for my boys. Perhaps the newly inspired mom will be enough? Perhaps everything doesn’t have to revolve around them and perhaps it is time to start dreaming a dream (and working towards it) – for me.
