You are 10 years old!
If there is one thing I learned this year, it is that vulnerability is key in every honest and rewarding relationship we pursue. Being vulnerable has come pretty natural with you, we have a special connection – the type of connection you share with a son when you had him way too early in life. In some ways I think it’s a little unfair – but when you rise to the occasion with words wise beyond your years, I realise we are all being shaped by events in our lives.
You are so special in that way!
2015 will forever remain the year that you grew from annoying boy into a smart young man. Yip I’ve said it! For the past couple of years you’ve been driving me up the walls. School work has been tough, doing homework has been a daily struggle. Seeing a mathematical breakthrough on the horizon yet having to meet your level of stubbornness has challenged me beyond words. I
think hope know we have reached a new level of trust and maturity. I ‘m sure we will continue our struggles with certain topics – especially when I am right :)
You are a natural leader, stubborn with perseverance. You push the boundaries and set a standard. You are kind yet driven, sometimes ruthless in your pursuit. You are goofy, giddy with silliness. You love dancing but it’s gone from dancing like no-one’s watching to throwing your cool moves.
You’ve been super brave. Courageous in the questions you ask. Proud while standing in front of a group of grown ups and showing off your Capoeira moves. It has been a privileged to experience!
This year I’ve seen hints of shyness. Luckily these moments have left you inspired.
My prayer for you for the coming year is simple. May you always find inspiration – in both little and big things. May you grow wise in knowledge, may you grow confident in your abilities. May you stay brave and kind. May you work hard and diligent. May you find lasting friendships that build you. May your stand strong and true. May you do everything in love.
I love you to the moon and back! Always
